Bringing literature to life through performance is our passion, and we want to ignite that passion in you, too!
We guarantee to help your students in the process of:
- discovering what makes a winning piece
- understanding the tools for literary analysis
- exploring word color and imagery
- analyzing elements of the text
- learning the art of cutting literary works
- determining focus and visual space
- preparing the performance manuscript)
- writing effective introductions and transitions
- handling the manuscript in performance
- experimenting with rehearsal techniques
- practicing vocal variety and nonverbal expression
- selecting performance styles
- facing the fear of performing
- expanding meaning through literary criticism
Every student in the Poetry and Prose institute will go home with a practiced piece ready for tournament competition. Our state champion coaches will insure the piece you have prepared will meet the UIL category requirements. Students will participate in a performance show case on Friday with written critiques from experts in the field. Students may choose Poetry and Prose as their “major” or “minor” field of study.
